Effective 30 August 2026
Data we collect
Account data (email, authentication identifiers), profile data (name, role, bio, skills, availability), mentorship request data (who asked whom, status, message) and project data (title, description, links, media you upload).
How we use it
To authenticate you, show mentor and project directories, route mentorship requests, enforce pairing limits, and keep the platform secure. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
Who can see what
Profiles and published projects are visible to other signed-in participants. Mentorship requests — including your message — are visible only to the Builder and Mentor involved. Access rules are enforced by database row-level security, not only by the interface.
Sign-in providers
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google to create your account. We never receive your Google password.
Storage and security
Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider and are never visible to us or to other users.
Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your profile, requests and projects; anonymised aggregate counts may remain for event reporting.
Your rights
You can view and edit your profile at any time, request a copy of your data, or request deletion. Email decoding@decoding.studio to action a request.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the effective date below and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
For privacy questions or a data request, email decoding@decoding.studio.
